Airport Expansion Phase II

Updates

April 2008 – Finally!

After a little over 19 months of construction, the first flight departed from the new wing on March 13th. So far, the feedback from passengers and the media is extremely positive. Passengers really like the warmth of the new waiting lounges and the large windows that fill the space with warm sunlight. And the view of the sun rising is nothing short of spectacular. The positive reception from the public is a wonderful tribute to all those who worked on the plans and construction of the new addition.

Although we have moved into the new wing, not everything is finished: in the coming weeks, our demolition contractor will tackle the old terminal. Judging from the large amount of heavy equipment at the site, the demolition should not take very long. People who are waiting for their flights at the new gates will have an excellent vantage point for watching the demolition show. Once the demolition is complete, the platform will be built, and then the bridges on the west side will be installed. Everything should be completely finished before the end of the year.
